Testimonials

"Kent Hazelhurst was recommended to me to assess the weather tightness of a concrete dividing wall between my (middle unit of 3) Mount Maunganui Property. This particular problem was tricky and necessitated the adjoining property owner to allow access onto his property to fully assess the source of a potential leak.  Not only did Kent handle negotiations superbly with the adjoining property owner, he stated clearly to both myself and the owner what was required for a complete assessment of the situation and recommended a solution.  Kent proved absolute professional in his field, and I would recommend his expertise to any potential client requiring a thorough assessment of weather tightness and remedial solutions."

“I am the Chairman of a Body Corporate for a sixteen unit complex in Queenstown. In 2014, we had a full WHRS assessors report completed for weathertight issues with the building. Our Barrister, recommended Kent to me as the person to assist us with the remediation. Kent worked with our architect to identify the issues and formulate a methodology to make the building weathertight. The plans and specifications were prepared and lodged with Council for building consent which was issued.  He prepared contract and tender documents and analysed the tender received. During the process, we obtained a cost estimate from a Queenstown based Quantity Surveyor and Kent has worked with them to assist him in understanding local building costs. Kent is now in the final stage of negotiating a building contract with work to commence in three months’ time. I have found Kent a pleasant man and very easy to work with. He has an excellent knowledge of the technical aspects of building and how to address and find solutions to the problems that are found. He has made me aware of the areas in the contract where we could be exposed to additional costs and has negotiated hard on our behalf. I have no hesitation in recommending him for work in his area of expertise and would gladly give a verbal reference if requested.”

"In 2012, we discovered the home we had owned for the last 8 years was leaking. We went through an assessment process and were given an opinion as to what was needed to remedy the situation. The problem is, once you have your report, you are basically on your own to work out the most effective way to deal with it.  We needed a repair plan, several quotes, advice on materials, project management, inspections, advice on dealing with Council and Government, and if the property qualifies for a subsidy. If you are not from the building industry then navigating from the original assessment to a good quality completed repair is daunting to say the least.  Kent Hazlehurst was recommended to me by my architect and right from the first meeting I was put at ease as how to work through this. They provided all the services I needed and gave me options as to what I could do myself.  Our house has been re-clad to a high standard and I know it’s all been done properly. It looks fantastic and is the talk of the street.  Kent was professional, very honest, ensures building contractors are doing the work correctly and at a fair price.  Highly recommend…”

"With the extensive renovation on our house at Mt Maunganui required to both give the house a more contemporary feel as well as make some improvements to the living spaces, it was necessary to ensure that weatherproofing was best practice. Kent Hazlehurst was engaged to provide that assurance and worked closely with the architects, designers, the builder and all subcontractors to ensure that the highest standards of water tightness and weatherproofing were followed. The house is exposed to wind, sand and salt so the weatherproofing requirements are well beyond normal. As owners of the property on Marine Parade, we are happy to recommend Kent as ensuring peace of mind around weather-proofing aspects of a major building project like this"
